UFC on FX 2 Results

Overdue, but who the fuck cares anyway, right?

Anyways on to the results, in the opening bout, MWs Court McGee and Costa Philippou squared off. Both of these guys were on the TUF 11 Season, McGee being the winner and Philippou being a fighter who didn't even get past the elimination round. The majority picked McGee for this fight, and the majority was wrong, as Philippou controlled the entire bout on the feet by picking apart McGee and landing solid shots. In the end, he won via unanimous decision (29-28 all around). This was a big stock dropper for McGee and even more evidence that at times TUF isnt legitimate. Go figure the winner of season 11 would end up losing to a guy that didnt even get past the round to get into the house. The second bout of the night was the first Flyweight bout ever featured on a UFC card between Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall. This bout seemed very close, although stats show McCall landed the majority of important shots and shut out Johnson in the takedown department. The score read off stated that Johnson had won by majority decision, but unfortunately the score was read off wrong and the bout was considered a majority draw. Its sad to see because if the judges had known it was a draw, there would have been a 4th round. They will rematch in the future. The next bout was also a Flyweight bout between Joseph Benavidez and Yasuhiro Urushitani. Just 11 seconds into the second round, Benavidez rocked Urushitani with a huge shot, and finished him on the ground shortly thereafter. He will fight the winner in the rematch of Johnson/McCall for the first UFC Flyweight Championship.

In the main event, WWs Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann squared off in a bout that was mostly dominated by Alves. Alves took control of the first two rounds by using his effective striking. Unfortunately for him, he shot for a takedown with his neck out too much with about 1 minute left in the round. Kampmann caught in a guillotine, rolled him over to mount, and finished the fight with a great comeback. I expect him to get a big name in his next fight.

(BTW, dipfuck Joe never sent in his picks, so 0 points for him)
