UFC on FX 1 Results: Lightweight Contenders

Fans were pleased yet again to see another free card on national TV. With the recent expansion onto the FOX network, many more free cards are in the works.

To start off the evening, heavyweights Pat Barry and Christian Morecraft in a fight that could put the loser in danger of leaving the company. The bout was mostly battled on the feet, and standing with Barry proved to be a bad idea for Morecraft. At 3:38 in round 1, Barry dropped Morecraft with what looked to be somewhat of a grazing shot, then finished him with some brutal shots on the ground. Check it out:

In the next fight, up and coming bantamweights Mike Easton and Jared Papazian battled it out in a fight that many believed to be FOTN. The fight took place mostly on the feet, with both guys delivering shots back and forth. Unfortunately for Papazian, 2 out of 3 judges believed that Easton got the best of the Armenian on the feet and deserved a majority decision victory (29-28, 30-27, 29-29). In the co-main event, Duane Ludwig and Josh Neer faced off in a welterweight bout. Ludwig controlled the bout on the feet until he decided to take Neer down. Neer then locked in a guillotine and Ludwig refused to tap, forcing Rosenthal to step in the stop the bout, awarding the victory to Josh Neer via technical submission.

In the main event, lightweight contenders Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller faced off in a bout that could send the  winner back up the ranks to title contention. Guillard stood a very good chance against Miller, but Miller's BJJ and wrestling would prove to be Guillard's weakness. After dropping Miller, Guillard attempted to follow up but eventually found himself on the ground. Moments later, Guillard found himself inside a rear-naked choke that he couldn't escape, eventually being forced to tap. Jim Miller is now pitted against Nate Diaz at UFC on FOX 3. It is unknown what is next for Melvin Guillard.

Standings:
Joe: 12 points
Shawn: 11 points
Alex: 11 points
Jon: 11 points
Vinny: 10 points

UFC 142 Results: All Finishes in Rio

Of course, the UFC starts off 2012 with a bang. Every fight on the main card ended with a finish, something we havent seen in a while. Viewers (and illegal streamers) definitely got their "money's" worth with this event.

To start off the main card, lightweights Edson Barboza and Terry Etim began the night with a fight that nobody in Rio will forget. It was a back and forth battle in the stand-up, with Barboza winning the majority of the exchanges. Late in the third round, Barboza hit Etim with one of the most beautifully thrown wheel kicks I have ever seen in my entire life, knocking Etim out cold. Check it out:

In the next fight, up and coming welterweight Erick Silva took on veteran Carlo Prater in a fight that ended in just 29 seconds. What many thought to be a TKO in favor of Silva, actually turned out to be a DQ on Silva due to strikes to the back of the head. Considering this was an absolute bullshit call, I'm choosing to not give a fuck and award points to those who predicted Silva to win. Suck it Yamasaki and those who wouldn't overturn the decision. The third fight of the night was a middleweight bout between submission ace Rousimar Palhares and Mike Massenzio. About just one minute into the opening round, Palhares went for a takedown, grabbed a leg, and of course, locked in a heel hook for the submission victory.

In the co-main event, "middleweights" Vitor Belfort and Anthony Johnson battled it out. The reason I use quotations for middleweights is because retard Johnson came 12 pounds overweight. Thats right, twelve pounds, so it wasn't even a middleweight fight. The fight was mostly on the feet, until Belfort rocked Johnson, and eventually choked him out for the win. Thank god I was wrong in predicting Johnson, that douchebag got cut and deserves it.

In the main event, FW champion Jose Aldo battled Chad Mendes in a bout that I figured would be much more difficult for Aldo than people had expected. I wouldn't have been surprised if Mendes had used his wrestling on Aldo to secure a 5-round decision victory. Of course, Aldo proves me wrong and dominates the fight on the feet, eventually rocking Mendes with a huge knee off of the cage and finishing him with strikes a 4:59 of round 1.

Standings:
Vinny: 7 points
Shawn: 6 points
Joe: 6 points
Alex: 5 points
Jon: 5 points

2012: A FullMount New Year

Whats up fellas it's Shawn here. Just posting about some new things we will be adding to the blog.

In the upcoming year, we will be having another FullMount MMA Prediction Contest (maybe this time for some cash) and some tiny new changes to the site. With the end of the world looming, FullMount looks to go out on a fuckin' bang because we don't want to end on a lame note. I would now like to proudly introduce to you the participants in this years Prediction Contest, with a new "competitor", if you will, added to our site.

This is me, Shawn looking stunning as always. The 2011 Prediction Contest winner looking to take that title once again and claim MMA greatness within this tight-knit community. I'll roundhouse you in the teeth and triangle choke your ass out cold, watch the fuck out.

This is Joe, who came in second place for the 2011 contest, just falling short of being crowned king on FullMount. With his new pearly whites, and his nerg packing skills, Joe looks to avenge this and kick me off of my throne. Watch out for this cool cat, with those healthy lungs he will show anybody who's the boss around here and blow your ass right off the mantle.

This right here is Vinny, one of the most retarded and insightful people around. Keep a look out for this rough rider, in no time he'll shove a fistful of Pho down your throat. Coming in third place for the 2011 prediction contest, Vinny is on a mission to prove his MMA intelligence. Piss him off and he will take you down, "cradle" you, "peterson" you, pin you, and probably hump your ass dry within seconds.

This is one of the best looking Mexican kids I know, Jon, but that isn't saying much. This brown wrecking ball will tool your ass in any video game on the planet, but couldn't get a ball in a basket for the life of him (just kidding pal). After coming in dead last in the 2011 prediction contest, Jon's pissed at the world and wants to prove he's no fake-ass MMA fan. Keep a look out for this foreign mother fucker, or he'll "BXR" you into oblivion.

I am glad to introduce the newest member of FullMount MMA, Alex. This Lebanese bombshell doesn't know left from right, but will school your ass in MMA history. He might hump you, touch you, and throw any gay reference on the planet at you until the end of day, but he has one goal, and that's to take the top of the FullMount MMA mountain in 2012. Good luck Alex, you're gonna need it to last around these parts of town you goofy piece of shit.

So that's it for our participants for this years FullMount MMA Prediction Contest, stay tuned for more great things to come and some awesome MMA action.

UFC 141 Prediction Results

Great way to end 2011. The UFC delivered once again with a great card and now we get to look forward for all new things to come in 2012.

As for results, the event started with a featherweight bout between Nam Phan and newcomer Jimy Hettes. Unlike most predicted, Hettes came in with a mission and completely dominated Phan on the feet and the ground, winning the fight via unanimous decision. Alexander Gustafsson battles Vladimir Matyushenko in the next bout in a fight that could send Gustafsson up the ranks to fight in the top 10. As most expected, Gustafsson showcased his striking and TKO'd the veteran Matyushenko in the first round. The third fight of the night was an upset in every single way imaginable. Top WW Jon Fitch has been on a tear in the division taking out B-level fighters trying to fight his way back to the belt. Johny Hendricks on the other hand has been making a name for himself by also taking out fighters with similar skill. Most expected Fitch to use his wrestling to grind out another decision victory, but what happened just in the opening seconds was an eye-opener for sure. Just 12 seconds into the bout, Hendricks hit Fitch with a swinging left that sent Fitch stiff to the canvas. Unfortunately for Fitch, this has sent him way down the WW ladder and has him fighting to find his way back to the top again. Major kudos to Hendricks for the upset victory.

In the co-main event, lightweight trash-talkers Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone faced off in one that was sure to be fight of the night. Nate Diaz completely controlled a fight that didn't even hit the ground. Using his superior boxing, Diaz picked Cerrone apart, leaving the "Cowboy" with not much to throw. Diaz won a unanimous decision and is now expected to face a top ranked LW. After the bout, the two shook hands and hugged. Its good to see Diaz show some respect for once.

In the main event, Brock Lesnar took on HW legend Alistair Overeem in a bout that would determine the number 1 contender for Junior Dos Santos' HW title. I wouldn't have been surprised if Lesnar took this one, because I honestly don't have much faith in Strikeforce fighters. But, as I predicted, Overeem used his superior striking and sent Lesnar down with a liver kick, gaining the victory via TKO and becoming the number 1 contender.

Joe and Jon got 5 points, and Vinny and I (Shawn) got 4 points.

Standings (Final):
Shawn: 118 points
Joe: 106 points
Vinny: 99 points
Jon: 91 points

A big congrats goes to me for winning the 2011 MMA Prediction Contest. A new years post will be coming soon to bring on 2012 and some new things we will be adding to the blog.

Bring on 2012.
